We are delighted to be providing IT Solutions Technician Apprenticeships to Prismika Gurung who joined the company in September and Rupert Eyton-Jones who joined in November. The two year apprenticeships have been brokered through Basinsgtoke ITEC.

BITS IT Apprentices

Prismika and Rupert, both from Fleet, will spend six weeks at a time in each of our service teams so they can get the best experience of providing IT service and support. After each team secondment, they will come back and spend two weeks with their mentor, Shelagh Denny (BITS Problem, Change and Major Incident Manager) to consolidate the learning, check-in that all elements of the apprenticeship are positive and that the College is happy with what is being delivered. Shelagh says: “It’s been refreshing to have new people coming into IT, full of enthusiasm and willing to learn. We’re looking forward to giving Prismika and Rupert the best experience and support to get their careers off to a great start”.

As well as practical experience, the apprenticeship includes 90 minutes tuition per week with a course instructor and a final assessment project. The subject of the project will be chosen jointly by Apprentices and the College. We will make sure that the on-the-job experience and mentoring support gives them the best exposure to write as a good a project as possible.
